He was a key ingredient in Wales winning last year’s RBS 6 Nations Grand Slam and was also outstanding during the 2011 World Cup as Warren Gatland’s men finished fourth.

Wales started this year’s RBS 6 Nations sluggishly, losing their opening fixture against Ireland at the Millennium Stadium but have since bounced back and beaten France in Paris and Italy in Rome.

Wales head to Murrayfield this weekend to take on Scotland and Faletau has promised Welsh supporters he will lift his performances for the remainder of the Championship.

"I'd give myself a five out of 10 for the championship so far,” said Faletau.

"I am just hanging in there and taking each game as it comes.

"I think there is plenty of room for improvement in my game. I just have to keep working hard on all parts of my game.

"My stats are good, but that's nothing big.  I don't really bother with them too much.

“They are not always a fair reflection of how things are going."
