Troiani: Italy must not be intimidated by England

Italy team manager Luigi Troiani expects his side to be in for nothing less that their toughest RBS 6 Nations fixture against England but has urged his players not to feel intimidated at Twickenham.

After beating France 23-18 on the opening weekend, the Azzurri have since tasted defeat against Scotland and Wales but are still in with a chance of securing their highest-ever finish in the RBS 6 Nations.

And although Stuart Lancaster’s Grand Slam-chasing men pose a ominous threat, Troiani hopes his side can impose their own game and take something with them into their final fixture against Ireland and give their home fans something to cheer about once more.

“We’ve met up with a squad in great physical condition, almost every player relaxed over the weekend and we can focus on the next challenge against the English,” said Troiani.

“We have to go to Twickenham to take on a team getting ready for the Grand Slam and in good form and we now that it will be a demanding game.

“We need to show no fear and try to impose our own game ahead of the final game of the tournament at home to Ireland in front of our fans.”
