Jackson, who makes his debut at the same time as Ulster inside centre Luke Marshall, captained Ireland Under-20s last year while he also started at fly-half for his province against Leinster in last season’s Heineken Cup final.
And Jackson believes that because of experiences such as that against Leinster, he will be well equipped to deal with his senior international debut.
“I feel like I’ve come a long way since the Heineken Cup final, I’ve won plenty more caps [for Ulster] and believe I have learned a lot since then,” said Jackson.
“I’m very excited to get out there now but it’s just something that I have to treat as any other game, I feel like I’m ready for it.
“I’ll be taking on the kicking duties but that’s something I’m prepared for and I’m really looking forward to the game, it will be the biggest of my career.”
Captain Jamie Heaslip also had a word of encouragement for both Jackson and Marshall.
“To be honest, I’ve been very impressed with both of them with regards to their professionalism since joining the group in November,” he said.
“In terms of advice, I’ll try and be of help when it comes to nerves just before the game but the best advice I can give them is to just go out and play.”
