Foley determined to get Ireland back to winning ways

Ireland can't end their losing streak of five Test matches in a row this weekend but defence coach Anthony Foley admits his side are desperate to get back to winning ways against Fiji.
Saturday’s clash does not have Test status but after going down to South Africa last weekend they face Fiji before locking horns with the Springboks without Stephen Ferris and Paul O’Connell at their disposal.

Ulster quartet Tom Court, Paul Marshall, Craig Gilroy and Roger Wilson, while Stephen Archer and Devin Toner have also been called up to the training squad ahead of Saturday's game.

Ireland are currently battling to secure their place as second-tier seeds ahead of the draw for the 2015 World Cup in December. Argentina's win over Wales has moved the Pumas up to seventh in the rankings and has pushed Ireland down to eighth, and Foley is determined to see his side get back to winning ways.

“Nobody likes losing,” he told the Belfast Telegraph.

“Sometimes you have to look at the manner of it. The manner of the 60-0 loss in New Zealand and Saturday's loss were completely different, chalk and cheese.

“There are a few issues we need to iron out. We need to make sure we build some momentum for this game.

“We are preparing like a Test match. It is no different to how we prepared last week – same meetings, same intensity and when we train we will have the same vigour.

“Obviously there will be different requirements from different players. The important thing is this is another Test match week for us and we make sure everybody is equipped properly for Fiji.

“They will punish you if you give them an opportunity. Our job is to make sure they get no opportunity."
